Theme: THE KING IS COMING
Texts: Ps. 24:7-9; Dan.2:40-45
As we enter the second day of our First Fruits exercise, it is essential to appreciate the Lord for His grace and guidance in our walk; and also to continue in our expression of our expectation for divine intervention as did Abraham (Gen.18:19-32).
We had earlier seen the coming king as the Judge of all, who is returning as the Lion of the tribe of Judah, with great power to put down all rebellion?
We also saw that as the Express Image of God, the attributes of God will be displayed by Him amongst which are loving-kindness, righteousness and Judgment or Justice (Heb. 1:3; Jer. 9:23,24).
We then prayed about the situation in our country based on His mercies (Dan. 9:9).
Topic: THE KING WILL CONQUER
Subtexts: Gen.31:4-13; Ex. 3:7-10, 12:12; Amos 4:1-2
Today, our message is an assurance that the coming King will conquer all foes.
Our texts reveal that God detests oppression and will usually deal with a nagging one. He informed Jacob of His awareness of his experiences in his in-law’s house, and showed him a way out. The Lord also informed Moses of His awareness of the sufferings of His people in the hands of oppressing Egyptians, and the Israelites of His judgment against Samaria’s elites who oppressed the people.
Currently, in our country, we are seeing God’s judgment of God in manifestation as prophesied by the GS in 1993: when he informed of the present day unbaiting insecurity. We are feeling the pinch of the judgment principally caused by the atrocities of heartless politicians and persons in authority. Some people have so enriched themselves with the common wealth of the nation that they now behave as gods that determine what must be (cp.Jn.19:9,10). Some are aiding and abaiting aliens to exterminate indigenes via blood curdling invasions. Innocent defenseless souls are mercilessly wasted through the most inhumane ways.
The Lord is a God of righteousness (Ex. 9:27; Ps. 11:7, 89:14, 145:17; Isa. 45:21; Jer. 9:23-24; Zeph. 3:5; Jn. 17:25) and righteousness detests oppression and violence (Gen. 6:1-11; Ps. 11:5), hence the commandment against murder (Ex. 20:13) and scriptures that detest violence (Prov. 6:16-17; Matt. 26:13). The Lord Jesus taught against violence (Matt. 5:38-39 cp. Jn. 18:10-11, 19-23).
The Lord whose throne is established on righteousness is coming to judge the earth with righteousness (Ps. 9:6-9, 89:13,14, 97:2, 98:6-9; Isa. 11:4; Matt. 16:27; Acts 17:31; Rev. 22:12).
We shall go to the Lord in prayer to ask why the oppression has lingered, and request for the humiliation of all oppressors in the country (Ps.77:1-7 cp. Isa. 41:21; Jer. 9:24).
Surely, the Lord will keep to the prophesies and promises made about this nation (Num. 23:19; Jos. 21:45; 1 Kgs. 8:56; Isa. 55:10-11; Jer. 1:11-13)
PRAYER POINTS:
Matt.6:9 – Let us hallow the name of the Lord Who has been our Defender and Provider. Appreciate Him for all His mercies that we have been enjoying.
The country is boiling with insecurity and political and economic shenanigans (secret or dishonest activities or maneuverings), let us pray (Matt.16:19; 18:18,19).
- 9:4; 2Sam.23:3 – Pray for the divine establishment of a new dispensation where there is value for life, and the leaders have the interest of the people at heart.
- 2:1-5; Matt.16:18 – Let the Lord defeat all plans to stop the church in Nigeria by whatever means. Pray that the Lord will arrest and frustrate the sponsors, organizers and foot-soldiers of such projects.
- 54:15-17; Deut.24:7; Rev.13:10 – Kidnapping and dehumanization of people is now a thriving business in our country, let us pray that –
- The groups motivated by the Fulanization agenda be brought to naught as God did at the tower of Babel. The Lord should not spare those Nigerian accomplices: political or religious agents.
- The criminal gangs making money from this evil enterprise should be caught by the arms of the law and decisively prosecuted.
- 26:52; Gal.6:7 – Let the Lord shame all those that have plundered the treasuries of this nation, and cause them to vomit their loot.
- 17:8-13; Num.23:23 – Let us pray for the neutralization of the spells being cast upon this nation by contracted agents of darkness, to make citizens apathetic to the atrocities being committed.
- Est. 6:1-3, Isa. 22:22-25. Pray that the US forces arrive before the terrorists do much harm to the unarmed and unprotected citizens of this country.
- 40:31 – Pray for grace upon the brethren to continue in the spiritual exercise until the victory manifests clearly.
