Then Daniel captured the prophetic dream of Nebuchadnezzar relaying the coming of the Messiah to put down all human rebellion and by extension dispossess Satan (Zech. 14:1-6, Jud. 14, Rev. 19:11-21).   We have earlier seen the coming King as Judge of all (Acts 10:42; 2 Tim.   4:1). He is coming back as the Lion (not Lamb) of the tribe of Judah (Rev.   5:5). As the Express Image of the Father, He delights in loving-kindness, righteousness and Judgment or Justice (Jer. 9:24; Heb. 1:3).   We shall stand on these attributes of loving-kindness, righteousness and Justice to call on His intervention.   Topic:   TO THE KING BELONGS MERCIES   Subtexts:   Ezk. 2:1-10; Dan. 9:2-9   The word mercies came from the Hebrew Racham meaning compassion. It expresses a deep and tender feeling of compassion such as is aroused by the sight of weakness or suffering in those who are dear to us or need our help.   Daniel, Ezekiel and Jeremiah were contemporaries that lived at the time of the judgment of Judah. Prophet Jeremiah had prophesied about the 70 years captivity of the people (Jer.25:11,12), and Ezekiel who became a prophet while in exile was shown the coming calamity (Ezek.2:10); Daniel got a revelation of the fulfilment of Jeremiah’s prophecy, and did the needful (Dan.9:3).   Brethren, the Watchmen warned the nation of the impending divine judgment in 1993 with the message “when judgment is determined what should the people do?”   Today, we see the evidence of the divine judgment: the paradox of poverty in the land with super abundant resources. Should we keep quiet and say it serves them right? Definitely not as we are being affected, and. Prophet Elisha’s experience is equally instructive. (2Kgs.6:29-33; 7:1).   We must arise and plead like Moses (Num.16:42-48) and like Daniel, since we can see that God’s people are also being affected by the grinding economy and the rapacious monsters fuelling the escalating insecurity. The Lord Jesus, the coming King is the embodiment of compassion. During His earthly ministry He couldn’t ignore the sight or voice or the desperately needy (Matt. 9:35,36, 14:13,14, 15:32, 20:30-34; Jn. 11:35). Even the thought of what would befall a stubborn generation broke Him into tears (Lk. 13:34-35, 19:41).   The Lord’s expression of compassion for late friend was a silent cry, the shedding of tears (Greek: dakruo); but that of Jerusalem was a loud wail, crying as a child (Greek: Klaiō).   The same compassion that He expressed while a Human can be stirred up through prayers, to act not as a lamb but as a Lion (Heb. 13:8; Acts 9:4-6; Zech. 14:1-9   We must therefore rise to plead for God’s mercies and request for the emergence of the awaited New Nigeria where no man is oppressed. (in God’s configuration)     PRAYER POINTS:   Isa.40:31 – Appreciate the Lord for the grace to wait on Him and all the favour we have been enjoying individually and as a Movement.
