FIRST FRUIT FASTING (JULY 2023) day 1
Blessed be the Most High, Who has sustained us through the year’s first half in all our endeavours. We are still in the age of awesome amazement and bound to jubilate and join in the forthcoming march of praise. This is the 4th year of the leap declarations, and the prophesied events are gaining momentum.
From our texts, God got Abram into a covenant, and later, his offspringās experiences were in consonance with the content of the divine agreement, hence our theme: the Covenant and your destiny.
A Covenant is simply an agreement or relationship between two or more partners who make binding promises to each other and work together to reach a common goal. It can be divine, human or demonic (Gen.15: 1-16; Jos. 9:6-16 cp. 2Sam21:1-3; Isa.28:18).
Destiny, in our context, is a series of events or circumstances that can happen to a person either now or in the future.
Our message shall come under three sub-headings.
Day 1: CONSCRIPTION THROUGH ANCESTRAL CURSES AND COVENANTS
Day 2: BLOOD COVENANTS
Day 3: COMMANDING THE MORNING
Topic: CONSCRIPTION THROUGH ANCESTRAL CURSES AND COVENANTS
Subtexts: Gen.9:24-27, 2Kgs.5:25-27
To conscript means āto take arbitrary possession of somebody for use; to commandeer. Though the subject matter of destiny is controversial, there are very key players in the field viz God, Who has the master design, and a man whose personal choice of action determines the nitty gritty (practical details) of what he will experience in life.
The fact that oneās activities can influence his life and that of his offspring is not questionable. Cain and his seedsā lives were altered by his murder of Abel (Gen.4:1-13). Hamās ignoble behaviour brought a curse unto his off springs (Gen.9:21-27). Gehaziās unfaithfulness brought leprosy to his off springs (2Kgs.5:20-27). They were born into adverse conditions and lived in a cursed state.(cp. Gen.49:3-4; Deut.33:6)
Even the Almighty promised retribution to the 4th generation of those that hate Him (Ex.20:5). Though when Judah was rife for judgment, God said He (God) would begin to judge His people according to their individual works (Ezk.18:20); yet, this does not negate the fact that life runs in families and a manās good does yield blessings to his off springs (1Kgs.15:1-5, 2Kgs.8:18,19), and his evil can yield retribution especially where demonic activities are involved (Jn.10:10, 1Sam.15:1-3). Devils donāt terminate their dealings with a generation unless resisted.
There are believers (and or their offsprings) suffering under the yokes of ancestral spirits or curses; inexplicable health challenges; near-success-syndrome; herd mental challenges; addictions; recurrent herd sins/habits, laziness; uncanny weakness; incessant misfortunes; delays; always struggling for things of life; divorces in the family; etc.
Ancestral covenants and contemporary demonic covenants (even if ignorantly engaged) do affect the life of a man (Eccl.10:8, 1Cor.5:6)
The will of God is that all His children prosper (3Jn.2, Ps.37:23). And the Lord Jesus enjoined the disciples to pray that Godās will be done on earth as it is in heaven (Matt.6:10).
When a child of God discovers that his life is not reflecting the expected will of God (which is the divine destiny), he is expected to scripturally act to resist the unsavoury condition.
The provision of the scriptures for resistance includes:
(1). Prayer of supplication (Lk.18:1-7), (2). Prayer of declaration (Mk.11:23,24), (3). Faith declaration/confession of scriptures (Rom.10:10), (4). Fasting exercise (Matt.17:20,21), (5). Decree of elders (Jas.5:14-15, Matt.18:18) (6). Praise and worship (Ps.67:5,6; 2Chro.20:20-24)
NB: Yokes vary in strength, and so does their degree of resistance. Therefore, if the evidence of freedom tarries, the believer must not give up until the day dawns in his life (cons. Lk.18:1-7, Mk.8:23-25).
