We bless the Almighty God Whose faithfulness has been made manifest in our lives on a daily basis in the course of this 21 days exercise.

In this Charismatic Hour, we shall be addressing the power of the spoken word.

Today, we are enjoined to speak to settle the score. We shall (A) Explain Our Theme (B) Expound On The Exercise

 EXPLANATION OF THEME

Settle a Score” is an idiom that means avenge a wrong, Take revenge on someone for something wrong that has been done; it can also mean paying off a debt or other obligation. Whichever nuance is applicable to one; there is a place for speaking to get the desired result.

The successful earthly ministry of the Lord Jesus was marked by the effective use of the tongue. He spoke to the fig, boisterous lake, diseased or even dead bodies, and devils with remarkable results (Matt.21:19, Mk.4:39, 5:8:14, Lk.13:12,13, Jn.11:43, etc.).

We shall therefore emulate our Model to get results (Jn.8:12; 14:12).

 EXPOSITION OF EXERCISE

The incredible power of the little tongue cannot be overemphasized (Pro.18:21; Jas.                 3:5-6). When it is mixed with faith, then the inestimable capability of God is drawn into the scenario (hence Mk.11:22-23). The Lord Jesus taught that faith as small as a mustard seed is capable of uprooting trees and moving mountains (Mk.17:20; LK.17:6). The bubbling faith remains inert until words of instruction are spoken. Though there is power in the tongue to attract good and evil, there is yet some limitation in its capacity for accomplishment.

It must be noted that the “Concept of Blessing and Cursing” rests on one in authority speaking formally or by faith.

The speaker’s faith does not lie in his ability to speak eloquently/articulately well but in God’s ability to do the required (Mk.11:22).

It may interest you to know that the feat carried out by Joshua’s faith in the Old Testament, appears more energy taking than what the Lord assured His disciples of in the New Testament as per moving trees and mountains; which fact should boost the faith of a believer (Jos,10:12-13; Matt.17:20; Lk.17:6). Howbeit, all the feats are done by the unfathomable Power of God.

In the time of Hezekiah, the Lord demonstrated His tremendous ability over nature by backing up the rotation of the earth for a while, as reflected in the sundial of Ahaz (Isa.38:7,8). So He that could back up a spinning/rotating earth can accomplish any other thing within it. Therefore, moving a mountain on the planet is no task unto Him (Matt.19:26; Jer.32:27).

Abram and Sarai needed to have their names changed so that they can speak faith (by calling and answering the new names) and that gendered the actualization of the promise. (Gen.17:5,15, Rom.4:16,17).

Speaking right boosts faith, and faith draws the hand of God accordingly.

The Brethren challenged by infirmities must not wait for prayers first; begin to speak to their bodies and conditions – not feeling shy (Rom.10:10, 1Pt.2:24, Matt.8:16,17).

While a child of God must not engage in any scene that appears like a quarrel (as a servant of God must not strive), he must speak God’s word when there is a spiritual challenge as David did and got Goliath down (1Sam.17:32-37, 45-47).

We are blessed with divine authority (Lk.10:19), we are backed with Dunamis, divine power to use the authority effectively (Acts 2:4); we shall set the power in motion (kratos) by prayers and making decrees (Eph.1:19), and all the scores shall be settled.

Let’s rise!
