To enjoy divine preservation amidst the perils of the day, we have been rolling out truths that propel pilgrims to their divine destinations; enjoying divine provisions along the way.
Today, we shall examine the operationality of the WORD.
Topic: THE WORD WORKS
subtexts: Ps.107:20; Isa.55:9-11; Mk.11:22-23
Spoken word is a God-given means of communication and acts like a living entity with the capacity to work or influence; hence the Scripture “death and life are in the power of the tongue…” (Pro.10:21; 18:21; cp. Matt.12:36; Jas.1:19; 3:5-8; 1Pet.3:10).
The Word of God is the ultimate expression of the word and has 3 distinct but inseparable aspects namely (i) the hypostatic Word of God (ii) the written Word (ii) the uttered Word of God
The Hypostatic or Subsistent Word – is the Person of Christ Who has been in existence before creation (Jn.1:1-3, 14-18; Col.1:16). He is the manifested LOGOS or will of God. Around Him, all creation revolves, and He is the perfect Expression of and Way to God the Father (Jn.14:5-7,9). The written Word points to Him (Jn.5:19; Lk.24:27).
The Written Word of God – is the catalog of writings of men under the inspiration or influence of the Holy Spirit (2 Tim.3:16; 2Pet.1:20,21). In other words, the Holy Spirit influences the writers to pen down what has already been determined in heaven by God (Ps.119:89; Rom.15:4). Inspiration infuses divine nature into the writing so it can be said that God’s word carries “particles” of God’s Spirit with it. It is meant to be spoken.
The Spoken Word of God – is the vocalization of God’s will either spoken as written in the Scriptures or as prompted by the Holy Spirit (2Pet.1:20,21). The Lord Jesus championed this (Mk.1:38; Lk.4:16-19; Jn.6:63; 8:28) and commissioned the church so to do (Matt.28:18-20; Mk.16:15) and they went doing so with testimonies (Mk.16:20; Rom.10:13-15, 17; 2Cor.5:20; 1Thess.2:13; 1Pet.4:11). When God’s word is delivered faithfully, it is the counsel of God and carries the power of God (Acts 20:29; Rom.1:16; 1Thess.1:5; Heb.4:12; Isa.46:10; Pro.19:21)
The word of God is ALIVE with supernatural potential to change things: create, construct, convey, convert, convict, condemn, confound, cleanse, etc.
God’s word has access to the ears of the creatures, both animate and inanimate; in other words, every creature hears God’s word (Deut.32:1; Isa.1:2; Jer.22:29; Ezek.36:4; Mk.11:23; Lk:6).
Whenever God’s word is delivered in faith, the purpose is never denied (Isa.55:10,11). It can operate as water or fire or hammer or sword, etc (Ezek.36:25,26; Jer.23:29; Eph.6:17).
The believer must LEARN to use the power of the tongue to reshape HIS LIFE and the world: speaking graciously and scripturally. Let us discard the habit of the world of voicing negative expressions: complaining and regretting our circumstances, and begin to speak the language of the kingdom henceforth: speaking God’s word to circumstances; declaring what is desired. (Rom.10:10; cp. Matt.8:8,9; Rom.4:17; Gen. 17:5,15).
The word of God works, activate it with your mouth! You can confess the word to reverse the medically irreversible; turn the wilderness into a wonderland.
