The Lord in whose court we serve is all-knowing and faithful. He knows the end from the beginning (Isa. 46:10) and has chosen to bless. His grace has been great and we shall not frustrate it. (Gal.2:21) Today, we are looking at the message that reveals God’s mind as per loved ones. Topic:   LIBERATION FOR LOVED ONES Text:    Matt.8:14-15 The immediate response of the Lord Jesus the express Image of God, at Peter’s house towards the mother-in-law, reveals the will of God towards the relations/loved ones of His disciples (Jn.14:7-9, Col.1:15, Heb.1:3). The perfect will of God is that there should be herd-salvation (salvation of groups/relations/family members), and the scriptures are replete with testimonies that confirm that light  (Noah: Gen.6:7-8, 7:1,7; Lot: Gen.19:12-15, Rachab: Jos.2:14-19, 6:17,25; Abraham: Ps.105:13-15; Jesus: Jn.7:1-7, Acts 1:14; Jailor: Acts 16:30-33). It must be noted that salvation is about deliverance or liberation from sin and its consequences (sickness, harm, ruin, loss etc) which the Lord Jesus paid for (2Cor.8:9, Isa.53:3-5). Therefore, there is a place for the saved to seek the wellbeing of his family members as Joseph did for his father’s house (Gen.46:30-34, 47:5-11). Naturally, no normal person will feel alright if it is well with him, while his family members are in agony or anguish of spirit as a result of lack of oppression. In fact, it is unrighteous to be uninterested in the wellbeing of your people (cons. Jas.4:17; 2:16-18; 1Jn.3:17). The believer should seek the breakage of ancestral yokes in his family from which he had been delivered (Ezk.18:2-4, Isa.10:27, Zech.1:18-21). Parents should seek the salvation of their offspring through all scriptural means, as no sound parent will accept hell-candidature for his offspring (Gen.19:12-75; Ps.127:3-5, Isa.8:18, 49:25, 54:13, 61:9). The Lord promised to bring children back from strange lands (Isa.43:4-6, 49:25). Spouses must equally stand-in for their partners (1Cor.7:6). As we do the needful, the Lord is set to recover estranged relationships, return eloped children, relieve families of demonic yokes and restore joy amongst brethren (Isa.10:27, Jer.33:10-11, Zeph.3:14,15). It is the day of the Lord, and the Lord is set to give episodes of joy to His Zion.
