FIRST FRUIT FASTING FOR MARCH 2021 Day 1
Theme: IDYLLIC ERA OF CONCEPTION AND PARTURITION (MARCH CONVOCATION)
Theme: THE TREASURY OF THE TRAILBLAZER
Texts: Pro. 18:21; Rom.10:6-10
As we continue to stand upon the word of the Lord assuring of divine faithfulness amidst the turmoil of the period, it is essential that knowledge is acquired on a very great instrument of prosperity in the kingdom of God called the tongue. Watchmen are called to be trailblazer in the end-time gospel work; and so need to know also the treasure of the treated tongue.
Topic: THORNS AND THISTLES IN THE UNTREATED TONGUE
Sub-texts: Pro.18:21; Jas. 3:5-8
Thorns are small sharp pointed tips resembling a spike on a stem or leaf. Thistles are a variety of prickly composite plants. ‘Thorns and thistles’ are figurative of things that cause irritation, annoyance, pains or sorrow/displeasure. Our topic has to do with the troubles that emanate from unwholesomeness of the tongue, or misuse of the tongue.(Jas.1:26).
The scriptures speak of the destructive capability of the little tongue (Jas.3:5,6) which can be by direct or indirect mechanisms, spanning through physical, mental/psychological, marital to spiritual spheres of life.
The behaviour of the tongue is a function of the state of the heart, for when the heart is sound, the tongue will be healthy and vice versa (Matt.12:34; Rom.10:8). An unrefined or diseased tongue may spread false reports (Exo. 23:1,2) , murmur or criticize what he does not understand (Num. 23:8; 2Pet.2:12), speak hurtfully (Rom.3:13; Pro.26:22-24 ), speak abruptly or rashly (Pro.25:11), speak pretentiously (Pro.26:18-19, 24-25), speak contentiously (Pro.18:6-7), speak folly (Isa.9:17), utter lies (Jer.9:5,8) be double tongued (1Tim. 3:8), talk back (Tit.2:9), be given to witticism, vulgarity and obscenities (Eph.5:4), speak evil of personalities (Tit. 3:2; 2Pet.2:14, Rom.3:12-14), speak heresies (2Pet.2:1).
The activities of unrefined tongues have caused terrible problems in lives of many, ranging from breakage of relationships (Pro.21:9, 27:15; 1Pet3:7) loss of favour and employment (Matt.25:24-30), Persecution (Tit.1:10-13), to untimely death (Judg 9:26-27; 38-49).
The Lord knowing the destructiveness of the tongue warned against meddlesomeness, talebearing, flattering and murmuring (Pr.26:17,20,22,28; 1cor.10:10,11).
The fruits of diseased tongues attract divine judgment (Jer. 9:8,9. Matt.12:36,37; Gal6:7)
Victims of diseased tongues must repent and call upon God for assistance without delay (Isa.6:5-7; Jer.10:23,24; 13:23; Jas. 3:2,6,8).
- discipline the tongue via spirit-assisted exercise
- seek sanctification experience
