Texts: Acts 20:20; Pro.4:7; Eccl.7:12 A key is a device for accessing doors (Mt.16:18) As we approach the terminus of the program, it will be necessary to throw some light on a quality that existed before the earth was created (Pro.8:32). There abound testimonies of people that apparently had no hope in life but pull through to success because of wisdom. And there exist people that had opportunities that could have made them to belong to the category of “Who is Who”, but got wrecked because of lack of wisdom. Our texts speak about wisdom, what is wisdom all about? (A) WISDOM DESCRIBED Wisdom is such a compound quality that there are 1001 definitions (i) Ability to discern what is right from what is wrong (ii) Gift that gives the capacity to make right choice or decision (iii) Webster Unabridged Dictionary: defines wisdom as knowledge and the capacity to make due use of it. In our texts “CHOKMAH” (chok-mah) was translated wisdom, and it is a compound word used for: (i) Technical skills or special abilities in fashioning something (Exo. 28:3; 35:31) (ii) Knowledge and ability to make right choices at the opportune time The Greek word “SOPHIA” was used in the new testament, and likewise it has very broad spectrum of meanings involving divine wisdom, demonic wisdom and human wisdom. (B) WISDOM APPLIED A life is like is panorama of decision taking and choice-making. It is one’s ability to regularly make the right decision, and choose correctly that determines how far in life one would go. As such a time of peril when danger lurks around every corner, FAITH must mingle with wisdom to get the best result (2Tim.3:1) Faith and Power don’t associate with foolishness, otherwise the Lord Jesus would have been indifferent to Satan’s suggestions and security situation (Lk.4:4, 9-13; Jn.7:1-6) Wisdom demanded King Jossiah to consult Prophet Jeremiah on the war with Necho, but he failed and bore the consequences (2Chro. – Jesus prescribed/recommended wisdom to His disciples (Mt.10:16) as it has the potential to build and also preserve (Pro.24:3; 8: ;Mt.7:24) – The prerequisite for wisdom is fear of the Lord (Pro.9:10) and it goes with keeping of God’s instructions (Pro.8:13; Jn.3:17; cp. Gen. ) – Wisdom directs to do the right/appropriate/profitable thing (Eccl.10:110; Pro.14:7) – Wisdom is a protection that also preserves life unlike money (Ecc.7:12) – Wisdom attracts understanding and knowledge (Pro.2:6; 4:7). Knowledge is the accumulation of information, understanding is on grasping, comprehension, interpretation of that information, wisdom is the application of that information which one understands – wisdom potentiates capability (Eccl.7:19) Wisdom is better rubies and all the things that can be desired (Pro.3:13-18; 8:11-12,14-22,35). Wisdom should be applied in health, home, business, security, career, spiritual areas of life. ACQUISITION (i) Walking with the wise (Pro.13:20) (ii) Reading the Word and associated literatures (iii) Praying WATCHMAN CATHOLIC CHARISMATIC RENEWAL MOVEMENT 2021 FIRST FRUIT FASTING EXERCISE 20th Jan. – 9th Feb. 2021 (Day 19) Theme: IDYLLIC ERA OF CONCEPTION AND PARTURITION Topic: THE WINNING KEY
