  • Theme: EMANCIPATION OF THE EMASCULATED
  • Topic: FREEDOM FOR PREYS AND CAPTIVES
  • Texts: Isa.49:24-25; Mk.5:1-15; 2Tim.2:24-26
Introduction: The Holy Scriptures though written by men, were inspired by the Spirit of God and  are  rightly  called  the  Word  of  God  (2Tim.3:16;  2Pt.1:21).  Each  time  the scriptures  are  read,  they  should  be  read  in  the  light  of  the  present.  For  the same Spirit that inspired the elders of old in their time, speaks to us out of the same scriptures today, in the light of the present situations and circumstances (Rm.15:4; 1Cor.10:6-11). So as we listen to the word of God today, we must see the word as the LORD speaking to us in our present situations and circumstances. For this 3rd day of the first fruit fasting exercise in the month of March 2026, we will be considering a message titled: FREEDOM FOR PREYS AND CAPTIVES under the following subheadings. (1) PREYSANDCAPTIVESDESCRIBEDANDEXPLAINED(2)SELF DISCOVERYANDINDENTIFICATION(3)NECESSARYSTEPSTO FREEDOM.
  1. PREYS AND CAPTIVES  DESCRIBED AND  EXPLAINED (Rm.7:15-20; Mk.5:1-5).
Preys in our context, are hunted species, whether they be human beings, animals or other beings, could be spirits beings too. They are species that are targeted for consumption or annihilation by other strange beings eg. as cats hunt rats, or as the hawks hunt the chicks. In the same light the devils  and  their  agents  hunt  for  human  beings  to  defile,  kill  and  destroy them. The preys are vulnerable of endangered species. (1Pet.5:8; Jn. 10:10; 2Cor. 4:4). Captives on the other hand are conquered and subdued subjects who are subjected  to  the  wills  and  commands  of  others.  A person  confined  to  the wills and commands of a compelling power, force or control (Mk.5:1-5). Preys and captives live in fear, torment and subjugation, against their desires and will, preys and captives suffer humiliation and deprivation. Preys  and  captives  are  usually  manipulated  by  others  at  will,  they  suffer drastic  consequences  ranging  from  torments,  torture,  little  or  no  freedom and even death. (Lk. 13:11-16)
  1. SELF DISCOVERY AND IDENTIFICATION (Isa. 49:24-25; Rm.7:15- 18,19; Lk.15:14-18).
The need for self-discovery is inevitable, it is imperative for any person that  is  a prey to  discover  the  fact,  by  querying  all  influences  and  forces that are subjecting the person to bondage, it could be fashion, it could be lust, it could be immorality, it could be covetousness, anger, suspicion, impatience, offence, love of money, pride, etc discover what is being used to subject you to captivity, or preying on you, it could be inordinate ambition, seek it out, identify such forces and influences and determine to get rid of them. NOTE: To be a prey or a captive one will be under, a  mighty one, terrible one (a seen or unseen power or influence, power or force) (Isa. 49:24-25)
  1. THE NECESSARY STEPS TO FREEDOM
Having done with self-discovery and identification, one is now armed to go for freedom by taking the following steps: (a) Recognize your insufficiency to help yourself (Rm.7:24). (b) Seek and surrender to the Saviour (Jn.10:10; Rom.7:24-25; Jn.8:32,36; 4:12). (c) Determine and run to and embrace the Saviour (Mk.5:1-2,6). (d)  Reject any further contamination (Jn.5:14). (e)  Search, study and appropriate the scriptures for personal emancipation (Jos. 1:8; Ps. 107:20) (f) Above  all,  the  efficacy  and  fervency of  the  word  of God  must be settled in the heart. The power for freedom from all manner of captivity  is  in  the  WORD  of  GOD  (Jn.  15:3,  8:32;  Heb.  4:12;  Ps. 138:2; Jn. 1:1-5) (g)  Seeking prayers and counseling from a genuine deliverance ministers can go a long way to deliver the prey or captive, of both the mighty and terrible ones. Insist that the LORD contend for you (Isa. 49:25). Let’s rise to pray.
