WATCHMAN CATHOLIC CHARISMATIC RENEWAL MOVEMENT
21 Days FIRST FRUIT FASTING FELLOWSHIP 2026 (Premium Edition) (Day 20)
- Topic: SAINTS OF SUPERNATURAL POWER
- Texts: LK. 24:36, 49; Mk. 16:15-20; Acts 1:4-8
To discuss this message titled, let‘s first define the term ―saints‖, and then proceed to look at the phrase ―supernatural power‖. Of all the definitions, that abound on the word ‗saint‘, one most suitable apply to our discourse
on this topic, and that is the one that defines a saint as
“one eminent in piety and virtue”, the other one closely appropriate, is ―One of God‘s chosen people‖. Putting the two definitions together, gives the definition
as God’s chosen person(s) eminent in piety and virtue.
The phrase
Supernatural Power, simply translates to
abilities beyond natural capabilities that means:
Abilities that transcend human capabilities, abilities beyond human capacities.
Our topic therefore can rightly be translated as
Saints (God’s chosen persons, eminent in piety and virtue) with abilities beyond natural (Human) capabilities. (Jn. 6:70, 15:16).
Whereas we know that one can be chosen of God without piety and virtue as was Judas Iscariot (Jn. 13:10, 18, cp. Jn. 15:3). In our context, any one chosen of God, but does not submit to the cleansing of the word of God, cannot be described as a saint. The saints in essence are those chosen by God who have subjected themselves to the cleansing power of the word and Spirit of God (since the word of God is Spirit – Jn. 6:63) and through the cleansing of the word they receive piety (purity of life) and virtue of life (faultless living or life style).
The quality of such individuals endowed with supernatural power (ability(ies) beyond natural capacity/capabilities) is being considered in this message. The starting point is self-examination to discover if one is a saint
or not.
- THE INEVITABLE SELF ASSESSMENT (2 Cor. 13:5)
Jesus having called His disciples, went ahead to choose apostles, from among them, and began to relate with the apostles much more closely as friends (Jn. 15:14-15). But, Judas it became obvious, was seeking after something else (Jn. 12:3, 3-6; Matt. 26:14-16).
Judas was among the saints, but was not a saint, but a thief. For all such the supernatural power will be illusive, hence he was screened out of the apostles before the supernatural power was released ( Acts. 1:12-20; 2:1- 4).
This was the lot of Judas because he refused to appropriate the cleansing effect of the word in his life. Such should not be the lot of any of us today as we remain under the fountain of the word and Spirit of the word. Let‘s strive to become saints.
- THE PROMISED POWER (Acts 1:4-5,8; Joel 2:28)
The supernatural power is a promise made to the saints (Joel 2:28, Acts 2:16-18). As many as qualify as saints are eligible for this supernatural power (Jn. 14:12) Jesus said this out-pouring and supernatural capabilities, and more will be the lot of those that
“believe on Him”. He said apart from being a saint, the other qualification is–
BELIEVE (Jn. 14:1; Mk. 9:23; Jn. 11:40).
The distance between the saint and the supernatural power is ONLY BELIEVE–Mk. 5:36
In conclusion, it will be needful t o point to the Most anointed of all men ever lived, the Person of our Master Jesus.
He had the experience of double-fold anointing and He operated in that capacity and performed feats beyond human capacities (Acts. 10:38). He was anointed by God Himself with Holy Ghost and Power (Matt. 3:16, 4:1; Lk. 1:4, 13).
He had the Holy Ghost before being led to the wilderness, from where He returned with power. So as we get ready to be led by the Holy Spirit may we return with power to do exploit for Him Who has called us? After all Jesus said―Igo to my Father‖ (Jn. 14:12) and now He is there with the Father, at the seat of supernatural power. His saints cannot but come under the open heavens for the Supernatural Power. It is a promise bound to be fulfilled in our day and times.
Shall we go to God in prayers?
