It was stated that there is an elevated realm that the obedient will be brought into.   In the 2nd day, we got the thrill that access to the new realm is by the Holy Spirit (Phil. 2:13).   We briefly analysed the Person and function of the 3rd Person in the Godhead Who proceeded from the Father.   Today, we shall be considering what we are required to do to enjoy the privilege of the Holy Spirit.   Topic: THE ACCOMPLISHMENT OF ARISING IN THE STRENGTH OF THE AUGUST VISITOR   Subtexts: Isa. 60:1-3; Jn. 14:26, 16:12-15, 23-24   The Spirit of prophecy had called on returnees from exile to arise. The Hebrew word qûwm translated arise means stand up; and may denote any movement to an erect position. Sometimes the word is used for empowering or strengthening (Ps. 119:28), and in the military context, may mean to engage in a battle (Ps. 18:38). The Lord Jesus informed His disciples of the key to success being yieldedness to the Comforter to aid in the God ordained adventure (Acts 1:8; 1 Jn. 16:12-15).   It must be remembered that it is only those that are either in a position or disposition of inertness or disadvantage that are told to arise.   There is a clarion call for the watchmen to return to their first love exhibited about 40 years ago when the church was born (Rev. 2:4,5).   At that time, our strength was little like the church of Smyrna and tribulation was rife (Rev. 2:8-10); meetings were held under trees and booth built with Palm leaves; brethren slept on mats and forms in the camp meetings, and nobody dared do anything that could cost him an eternity without Christ. (Rev. 21:8,27, 22:10-14; Gal. 5:19-21; 1 Cor. 6:9-10; Mk. 9:43-49)   What are we to do to arise: return to life and function?
  1. Take a decision to pay any necessary price to arise (cons. Lk. 19:1-5, 8-9, 15:11-21,22; Rev. 2:5)
Naturally, it is tasking to restart an engine that has been left dormant for a long time, but memory of the place of the Comforter should gladden the heart (Phil. 2:13; 1 Cor. 15:10)
  1. Submit to the enabling power of the Holy Spirit by following or aligning with His directives: consecrate or rededicate your life to God (Rom. 12:1-2; 2 Cor. 5:15; Eph. 6:10) and depart from all appearances of sin/evil (Rom. 6:14; 1 Thess. 5:22; 1 Jn. 3:8,10), being intentional for holiness of life (1 Pt. 1:15,16; Heb. 12:14).

  • Put on the whole (complete) armour of God in order to successfully resist the wiles (Gk. Methodeia means travesty, a cunning device, a false absurd or distorted representation of something) of the devil (Eph. 6:11, 13-15; 1 Jn. 4:1)

  1. Engage in prayers: wrestle (Gk. Pale mean To vibrate or sway) with the powers that be (Eph. 6:12,13; 2 Cor. 10:3-5 cp Ezk. 18:2,3). Maintain a disposition of prayer and often pray in the spirit (Lk. 18:8; 1 Cor. 14:2)

  1. Be intentional in gospel dispersion to populate the kingdom (1 Cor. 9:16; Rom. 1:16; Matt. 24:13)

  1. Walk in faith, trusting the Lord for His faithfulness, and so shall you shine as faith never fails (Heb. 11:6). The Face of the Lord is shinning upon the ministry, let’s arise to respond to the window that has opened (Isa. 60:1).
