WATCHMAN CATHOLIC CHARISMATIC RENEWAL MOVEMENT
FIRST FRUIT FASTING FELLOWSHIP 2025 (AUGUST EDITION) Day 2
Theme: ARISE IN THE STRENGTH OF THE AUGUST VISITOR
Texts: Isa. 60:1-3; Jn. 14:16,26, 15:26; Eph. 6:10-15
In the introductory session, we considered the August announcement to ARISE and SHINE, meaning “stand up from any position or disposition that won’t permit optimal performance; and engage in actions that populate the Kingdom”. This call is based on the fact that the wind is favourable, though gross darkness pervades the society (cons. Ex. 10:21-23). Admission and participation in the august announcement will bring one to a unique, impressive (august) altitude where God’s glory naturally radiates from the lives of the yielded vessels.
Topic: THE ACCESS TO AUGUST ALTITUDE
Subtexts: Isa. 58:11,14; Zech. 4:6; Jn. 14:16,26, 16:7-18
This generation existing at the terminus of the church age is laddened with forces that mellow fervency, causing saints to sleep and slumber and yet confident that all is well (Matt. 25:5-6). It is the age of the Laodecian church (Rev. 3:14-18)
However, at the foundation of the world (Rev. 3:8), this deterioration was foreseen by the Godhead and provision was made to attend to it through the advent of the third Person who equally proceeded from the Father, termed Another Comforter (Jn. 15:26). He was to come to perfect the human project (Jn. 16:7-15).
Therefore, the Holy Spirit is the Access to the designated/realm. Today, we shall briefly look at Who He is and what He does, so as to have knowledge and prosper (Prov. 24:4).
The Holy Spirit is not among the powerful heavenly angels who are created spirits (Ps. 104:4; Heb. 1:7) but the Creator Who has been with/in the Father from eternity past (Gen. 1:1-3) He was identified as God and possesses all the exclusive qualities of the Divinity – omniscience, omnipresence, omnipotence (Acts 5:1-3; Rom. 8:9-11; 2 Cor. 1:22, 5:5; Gal. 4:6). Just like the Word, He proceeded from the Father (Jn. 8:42, 15:26).
He is a
Regenerator (Jn. 3:3,5-8),
Sanctifier that transforms the flesh riddled man to the flourishing spiritual ambassador (Gal. 4:19; 1 Cor. 6:11; 1 Pt. 1:2; 1
Thess. 5:23);
Revitalizer (Jn. 6:63; 2 Cor. 3:6)
Baptizer with Power; He is a
Giver of gifts of the Spirit, offices and talents (Ex. 31:1-3,6; 1 Cor. 12:4-11);
Bearer of spiritual fruits that beautify the believer (Gal. 5:22, 23).
Energizer that assists in effective prayers (Rom. 8:26; 1 Cor. 14:2, 13-15, 18).
He is the
Comforter (GK Parakletos means one summoned, called to one’s side especially called to one’s aid) that is ever present to encourage and strengthen (Jn. 14:16; Eph. 3:20; Phil. 4:13). He is a
Revelator and
Illuminator that enables the understanding of scriptures and knowledge of God’s will for life (Isa. 54:13; 2 Tim. 3:16; Jn. 2:17). He
guides and orders the steps of the submissive (Rom. 8:14; Acts 13:1-4, 16:6-7,9; Ps. 37:23).
He makes witnessing sweet and fruitful, and without Him gospel preaching will be dry and bland, hence the need for disciples to wait until the Promise of the Father was fulfilled (Acts 1:4-5,8, 2:1-4,41).
He is given/received in measure according to God’s sovereign discretion or purpose (Jn. 3:34, 1:16; Rom. 12:3; 1 Cor. 12:11)
Interestingly, He is the One that does the work which He informs His children about, and so the believer must learn to take advantage of this truth and soar in altitude (Phil. 2:13; 1 Cor. 15:10; Isa. 40:31).
The watchman must hunger and thirst for large measure of the Holy Spirit for the extraordinary watchman – calling (Matt. 5:6; Jn. 7:37,38).
The Holy Spirit is the One that enables a believer to lead an impeccable life and to be a blessing to his generation (Phil. 2:13; Acts 1:8)
He came principally to reveal Jesus to the sons of men (Jn. 16:13-15).
