It is a Jubilee era for the ministry and the associated grace is in manifestation; when doing exploits is easy. We must trust Him for the grace of ascendancy as He takes us from level to level (Prov. 4:18; Jn. 1:16).   Our texts relate to incidents where the phrase “the finger of God” was used. In the first, it was the testimony of some demon inspired men who traded in the supernatural, attesting to the superiority of God‟s Power; and in the second incident, it came from the mouth of the very Son of God while authenticating His power packed ministry.   The phrase “finger of God” refers to God’s manifested Power in which acts that surpass human boundaries are brought to bear. It does also refer to God’s revelatory power (Deut. 9:10). In this later case, the phrase is an anthropomorphism indicating that God directly caused the commandments to be engraved on the stone. In the time of Belshazzar the son of Nabodinus who was placed over the people as the crown prince or second ruler ( from secular history), fingers of a man appeared, writing God‟s judgement upon the wall of the palace (Dan. 5:1-6).   Our message „Behold the Finger of God‟ shall come under the following topics (A) The Devil Has No Power (B) Disciples Are Empowered To Dominate.   TOPIC:          THE DEVIL HAS NO POWER Subtexts: Gen. 3:15; Isa. 14:12; Lk. 10:17-18; Col. 1:16, 2:15   Our topic is a statement of fact that has many shades of meaning, and needs to be well understood, as a misinterpretation can birth disastrous consequences.   The consequence of a wrong notion can be likened to the matter of Gaal the son of Ebed who boasted against Abimelech and became stunned when faced with reality (Judg. 9:22-38); or that of gullible Samson who divulged a divine secret to a mole and retained a porous confidence only to have his eyes plucked out for life (Judg. 16:16-21); or the spiritually eroded Israelites warring without divine coverage, and exhibiting     misguided confidence which ended with a horrendous disappointment at the arrival of the emblem of God‟s presence (1 Sam. 4:5-11).   The wrong notion of the maxim paints a picture of a devil that is weak, and cannot really do any harm. But the scriptures show that he needs to be resisted, which means that he possesses some force (1 Pt. 5:9; Jas. 4:7); he has traps/tricks that one must be wary of (Eph. 6:11-12); he is a very intelligent being (Gen.3:1-8; Lk.4:6; Matt. 10:16 cp. Rev. 12:9). His dunamis (inherent power that gives him his characteristics) was not taken away at his rebellion. The same is true for his cohorts.   What then is the meaning of the maxim: The Devil has no power?
  1. In comparison with our Father, the God of Israel, Satan absolutely has no power (Ps. 62:11; Isa. 45:5,14,18,21-23)

  1. In relation to Christ the risen Lord, Satan has no power (Jn. 19:30; Col. 2:10,15; Matt. 28:18; Phil. 2:9,10)

  • For members of the Church, Satan should be known as an intruder that has no right or authority to rule or possess anything on earth (Ps. 24:1, 89:11, 116:15) even though he has some ability by which he subtly or viciously fights the believers (2 Cor. 10:3-5, 12:7-9; Eph. 6:11-13; Rom. 1:13-, 15;22; 1 Thess. 2:18)

  1. Knowledge of the nature of the resurrection power working in favour of the Church will make a believer say that Satan has no power (Eph. 1:17, 19-22).
The awareness of the exceeding greatness of God‟s Power will generate faith that can move mountains (Eph. 3:20; Mk. 11:23,24). It will generate a confidence that will make for ease in prayers, as scripture based arguments will yield outstanding and astounding results (Mk. 11:22; cp. Rev. 20:1-3).   Relative to God the Father, the Lord Jesus Christ and the operating power of the Holy Spirit, Satan has no power. (1 Sam. 17:1-8,34-50; 1 Kgs. 18:24-39; Ps. 62:11; Lam. 3:37)   What therefore is that mountain or sea challenging or interfering with your peace or progress? What is that representation of the powers of darkness resisting you? Let‟s tell such that power belongs to our God.   It must be noted that the Finger of God always comes to confirm truth and will do so now (Jer.1:12; Mk.16:20; Jn.8:32).   Let‟s rise to pray for the manifestation of the Finger of God.
