MIDMONTH 3-DAYS FASTING EXERCISE (170621) Day 1
Theme: SCATTER THOU THE PEOPLE THAT DELIGHT IN WAR
Topic: REBUKE THE COMPANY OF SPEAR MEN
Text: Ps. 68:1-5, 26-35
INTRODUCTION
As the saying goes, necessity is the mother of invention; so has the unyielding security deterioration necessitated the introduction of this three-day midmonth exercise which permits the consumption of fruits only at the end of each day.
It must be remembered that controlled/supervised fasting exercise is not only good for accelerating spiritual attainment but also a health booster, as it aids in detoxification or cleansing of the body systems (Isa.58:6-9).
The Psalmist called on the Almighty God to arise and discomfit His enemies, and put them to flight; and on another hand, let the righteous be made exceedingly glad. He acknowledged the Almighty in His identification with the weak and disadvantaged – the fatherless, widows, the lonely and prisoners (v.1-6, Dt.14:28-29). He ultimately called on the Lord to rebuke (chide, reprimand) the
company of spearmen…and scatter the people that delight in war (v.30 cp. Nah.1:4; Ps.106:9, 119:21). The word spearmen (Heb. qanch) means
a reed as erect. Some translations in the place of “
company of spearmen’ read
“Beasts living among the reeds’.
Today, there are people that hitherto enjoyed the hospitality of the indigenous people of the land; but now have transformed into invaders with the sole objective of conquering and dispossessing the indigenous people of their land. They dwell in the forests (among the reeds) and brazenly carry out attacks in different parts of the country; claiming that their god gave them Nigeria for their possession (Ps.11:1-2 cp.2Chr.20:10-12).
Now, though we know that God is judging the nation for her iniquities, yet we cannot keep mute and watch the wicked deal with people more righteous than them (Hak.1:13, Gen.18:23,25). As we appreciate that the gospel work in being seriously threatened (Isa.49:5,6, Matt.28:19), we should cry unto the Lord to rebuke the invaders’ company of spearmen even the beasts living among the reeds and scatter the people that delight in war (Prov.19:21, Ps.33:10)

MIDMONTH 3-DAYS FASTING EXERCISE (180621) Day 2
Theme: SCATTER THOU THE PEOPLE THAT DELIGHT IN WAR
Topic: SAVE ME, O GOD FOR THE WATERS COME IN UNTO MY SOUL
Texts: Ps. 68:1-5; 69:1-6
INTRODUCTION
In the art of prayer, there is a place for the repetition of requests until observation or realization of expectation (1Kgs.18:41-45, Matt.26:36-44, Mk.8:22-25). The Lord Jesus buttressed this truth in His parable of the unjust judge (Lk.18:1-7 cp. 1Thess.5:22). The issue of the rapidly escalating rate of insecurity in the nation cannot be overemphasized; and the Watchmen cannot afford to relax until the situation is reversed and the new Nigeria long-awaited is realized, as the light that shines out of darkness (Isa.62:1,6-7). So until we stop seeing gory images of people butchered en masse, and sights of villages completely burnt down, we will not stop calling upon the Lord for His intervention.
The psalmist cried out to the Lord to save him from a potentially destructive circumstance (Ps.69). It was the same way that King Asa cried out when the intimidating one million men Ethiopian army came against him (2Chro.14:8-14). Whenever the poor or weak cried unto the Lord, the Mightier than the mightiest and Stronger than the strongest always responds (Ps.34:4-6, 3:4).
Our country is suffering severe haemorrhage (bleeding) through the activities of invading bandits (from neighbouring countries) and their collaborators. These evil men are bloodthirsty and heartless. They rape, maim, murder and destroy the belongings of their victims; and occupy places abandoned by fleeing natives. They are well-armed and supported by some people in authority. We have no might against them but we have the Lord of the host with us (2Cor.10:4). He has the capacity to drive them away overnight (Isa.37:29).
We shall call upon the righteous God to intervene and bring their counsel to nought.

PRAYER POINTS
- (Ps.47:1-9) – Let us bless the King of the earth for all the victories that we have enjoyed through Him. Let us appreciate the divine protection that we have enjoyed.
- (Num.23:19, 2Cor.1:20) – Let us remind the Lord of the numerous promises that He made to us especially the 3 fold end-time project, and ask Him to arise to neutralize all forces that want to negate them.
- (Prov.6:16,17, Joel 3:19) – Let the Lord frustrate and abort all plots to shed the blood of the innocent in any part of this country. Pray that the Lord will frustrate all plans to assassinate high profile targets, to scuttle God’s program and subjugate any people.
- (Acts 9:1-5, Isa.59:19) – Let’s call upon the Lord to defend His church and make mortal men know that they are but grass. Let the Lord give those standing against Christianity a dose of His wisdom as He did to Benhadad (1Kgs.20:13-20).
- (Isa.10:1-3) – The 1999 Constitution which the nation is operating on is very unfair to the majority of the citizens; let us pray that the Governor among the nations will assist in its removal and replacement with an equitable draft.
- (Isa.8:9,10) – There are sorcerers that are making enchantments to keep the people in this country indifferent to the evil goings-on; let us pray that the Lord will scatter such sorcerers and neutralize their enchantment/curses. Let us pray for general arousal of awareness in the people of this country to refuse evil in all forms.
- (2Sam.17:14, Isa.47:1-3) – Let the Lord expose and disgrace all those politicians secretly working against the constitution that they swore to uphold and defend.
- (Zech.12:8-9) – Pray for the protection of our staff and students at LOGISS; and for all Watchman students, corpers, etc all over the country.

MIDMONTH 3-DAYS FASTING EXERCISE (190621) Day3
Theme: SCATTER THOU THE PEOPLE THAT DELIGHT IN WAR
Topic: BE SILENT, O ALL FLESH, BEFORE THE LORD
Text: Zech.2:1-13
INTRODUCTION
Fasting is an exercise that a believer should regularly engage in (Matt.6:16-18; 2 Cor.6:4,5; 11:23,27). It potentiates faith and spiritual power (Est.4:13-16; Matt.17:17-21). It paves the way for spiritual manifestations (Acts 13:1-4). Fasting also yields improved physical health (Isa.58:8). It is therefore a form of labour with tremendous profit (Pro.14:23).
On this 3
rd day of the fast, the power of God is assuredly present to attend to the issues that will be raised. Zechariah, the post-exile prophet got a vision of the manifestation of God’s power in favour of His people: enlargement (v.4), security (v.5), defence (v.8), restoration (v.10,12). It should be noted that Jerusalem had just come out of divine judgment and is now being assured of great things ahead (v.6; Jer.29:11). And Babylon which was the instrument of the judgment shall be punished (v.6,7,9).
Whenever God’s power manifests, every creature is required or influenced to be still/silent. (Ps.76:6-8, 89:7-9).
The forces spilling the blood of Nigerians are the instruments of judgment and shall equally be judged, as it was with Babylon. (Rom.15:4, Zech.2:8-9).
We shall pray and move the hands of God in favour of our existence, for corporate prayers avail tremendously (Matt.18:18-20). All flesh shall be still.
