FRAGRANCY OF FORGIVENESS – 2021 FIRST FRUIT FASTING EXERCISE (Day 14 OUTLINE)

Texts: Acts 20:20-21 Welcome to the 14th Day of the First Fruit Exercise. The Lord has been spectacular with us at this time. We are still picking up spiritual nutrients to sustain our “pregnancies” in the kingdom. We are considering The Fragrancy of Forgiveness Fragrancy is “the Quality or State of having a sweet odour” Forgiveness is “the act of excusing a mistake” Psychologists define forgiveness as “a conscious deliberate decision to release feelings of resentment or vengeance towards a person or group who has harmed one, regardless of whether they actually deserve the forgiveness. From our text, the apostle spoke of testifying of repentance towards God; and faith towards our Lord Jesus Christ (Acts 20:21). For repentance to be meaningful, there must be forgiveness from God. We shall divide the message into: Forgiveness And The Faith (B) The Fragrance of Forgiveness (A) FORGIVENESS AND THE FAITH The Christian faith is based on forgiveness for without it no one can be a Christian/child of God (Ps.130:11; Acts 13:12; Eph.1:7; Isa.14:22). And to remain a Christian, one must continue to enjoy the forgiveness of the Lord (1Jn.1:9; Mic.7:13; Isa.43:25) It is required of the citizens of the kingdom to forgive each other (Matt.6:12; 14-15 18:21-22; Mk.11:25; Lk.17:3-6; Eph.4:32; Col.3:13; cp.Matt.13:23-24) The Lord Jesus and other saints demonstrated forgiveness (Lk.23:34; Acts7:55-60; cp Gen.45:1-5; 50:15-30). Forgiveness is an integral part of the Christian faith. (B) THE FRAGRANCE OF FORGIVENESS Forgiveness is an expression of strength, as it occurs when one has overcome the resistance of self will. Forgiveness is a manifestation of one’s commitment to obey God’s injunction (1Sam.15:22). And obedience is an indication that one loves and trust the Lord that what he said is for one’s own good (Ps.11:17). Forgiveness relieves of stress of unforgiveness and consequences (Mk.11:25-26). It brings the forgiver peace of mind and frees him from the effect of corrosive anger. Forgiveness bolsters faith and enables one to amiably function in the realm of the supernatural (Mk.11:20-24) On the contrary, unforgiveness breeds toxic emotion and chronic diseases like ulcers, cancers, heart diseases, diabetes, etc The wise will opt for the fragrance of forgiveness.
