ROUTING OUT THE RUMPUS (TUMULT) – (DAY 7 OUTLINE)

WATCHMAN CATHOLIC CHARISMATIC RENEWAL MOVEMENT 2021 FIRST FRUIT FASTING EXERCISE 20th Jan. – 9th Feb. 2021 (Day 7) Theme: IDYLLIC ERA OF CONCEPTION AND PARTURITION Topic: ROUTING OUT THE RUMPUS (TUMULT) Texts: 2Sam20:21 We bless the Lord for the grace that has sustained us in this exercise, and for the work that has been done in our lives so far in this exercise. We wish to reiterate that the 21-day fasting program was divinely designed for information and impartation; and that there is a place for holding unto the declaration of God’s servants (2Chro.20:20, Ezk.44:30). Also, we are to walk by faith and not by the impulses of the senses derived from the surrounding circumstances (2Cor.5:7, Deut.8:3). Today’s text pertains to a man that raised a tumult (rumpus) when King David was settling from the insurrection of his son. There was need for the upheaval to be nipped in the bud before it developed to another wild fire (1Sam.20:6-7, 15-22). In life, there are times when tumultuous challenges arise to contend with peace being enjoyed or about to be enjoyed. When some form of testimony is at hand, then comes the emergence of signs of crisis. However, there is nothing to worry about. Job had the experience (Job 1:1,5, 13-20, 29:1-10). Joseph experienced the phenomenon (Gen.39:1-7). Jesus’ disciples had their share of the experience (Lk.24:16-21, Jn.20:19, 16:19-22). Was that not the experience of the Great woman of Shunem ? (2Kgs.4:15-22). The thing that happened to King David is a lesson for the church so that they can prepare and avert the like circumstances and consequences (Rom.15:4, Pro.22:3). How can the phenomenon be averted? i) By being proactive: anticipating the possibility , and nipping in the bud if observed (Prov.22:3, 27:3) ii By recoursing to God for assistance through (a) prayer and supplication (Phil.4:6, Ps.121:1) (b) making declarations or decrees in faith (Mk.11:22,23, Job 22:28, Ps.16:6). As David routed out the worthless and wicked Sheba (name means Oath) and terminated the evil project before it’s maturation, so is the Lord set to abort all those diabolic machinations designed against you by wicked people (Eph.6:11, Job 8:22).
