WATCHMAN CATHOLIC CHARISMATIC RENEWAL MOVEMENT
2021 FIRST FRUIT FASTING EXERCISE 20th Jan. – 9th Feb. 2021 (Day 6)
Theme: IDYLLIC ERA OF CONCEPTION AND PARTURITION
Topic: THE PERTINENCE OF YOUR PROTECTION AND PRESERVATION
Text: 1Sam.20:21
As the global economy is gradually plunging, the socio-political climate of nations is speedily descending into a crises and anarchy thus threatening one of the essentials of social life-security; Security is the, state of being free from danger of injury, or freedom from anxiety and fear. Every creature desires security; and the cohesion of any state is threatened by insecurity; hence a country is considered a “failed state” when safety is no longer guaranteed and other basic conditions and responsibilities of a sovereign government no longer function properly. .
Wherever protection and preservation is guaranteed, security is said to exist.
In the backdrop of our text, David’s existence was being threatened by the backslidden and rejected Saul. And he agreed with Jonathan, the king’s son on the sign to demonstrate the situation report so as to determine whether he should stay or flee. The message of our text relays PEACE AND FREEDOM FROM HURT (1Sam.20:21).
Today, insecurity is apparently the order of the day: kidnappings, robberies, assassinations, ritual murders, banditry, incidences of accidental discharge, friendly fire etc. abound, confirming the period as the end time (2Tim.3:1-4).
However, as David had a veritable (unquestionable) divine purpose which could not be aborted by the unholy quest of the rejected king, so do we have an unassuming assignment from the Lord that makes us priceless (Isa.49:5). Apostle Paul likewise had a mission that must be accomplished, so the gang up of over 40 men under an oath could not bear fruit (Acts 23:12-22; 2Cor.12:23-26). In like manner also would aged apostle John the beloved not die in the banishment to the Island of Patmos until the Book of Revelation had been written (Rev.1:9). The Lord Jesus must not die outside Jerusalem therefore the threat of Herod was that of a fox (Lk.13:32,33, cp. Est.3:8-15, 6:1, 7:10).
We have a divine assignment, and it is the Lord’s prerogative to protect and preserve us as we do the needful (Pro.22:3, 27:12, Isa.49:5).
The must-know on divine protection and preservation.
i. There is a place for the use of the common sense philosophy: observe and stayed secured (Matt.4:7)
ii. There is a place for the assent to the voice of wisdom (Jn.7:1-7): Don’t routinely follow a fixed time or route of movement everyday.
iii. One must recognize the place of divine revelation and prophetic guidance (Judg.7:13-15, 2Kgs.6:8-12).
iv. One must be sensitive to angelic impressions in the form of signs, dissuasions, prompting etc. (Num.22:22-33, Ps.91:3, 11-12).
v. One must Stand with the truth of God to pray and make declarations (Ps.91:4, Isa.38:1-5, Ps.121:1-8).
vi. The believer must acknowledge the place of human agency in divine preservation
(Acts 23:12-22).
God’s watchmen must note that their health is essential at this time of God’s power and that there is a promise of protection and preservation. (Ps.91:1-4, 10-14, 16). The Lord has need of you.
